Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Friday April 8, 2016 at the age of 88. John Murphy of Orillia, formerly of Summerside, Newfoundland, beloved husband of Norma Murphy (nee Brown). Loving father of Allan and wife Wendy, Bradley and wife Kelly. Loving grandfather of Johnnie (Jenna), Cody, Shea, Kenney (Katie), Austin and Private Marshall. Cherished great grandfather of Jack. Survived by his siblings Violet, Ruby, Earl and Lottie (Randy), and predeceased by Jim, Nina, Vivian and Gladys. Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Brother-in-law of Shirley (Tom) and Gloria (Dennis). Cremation has taken place. A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Orillia Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34 (215 Mississaga St. E.,Orillia, ON L3V 1W2) on Sunday April 24, 2016 from 1 – 5 p.m. ,with words of remembrance commencing at 2 p.m. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Orillia Salvation Army would be appreciated and will be accepted by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595.
