Remembering Bernard King

It is with heavy hearts we mourn the passing of Bernard King November 20, 2022 at the age of 91. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed. His battle with medical issues in recent years is a testament to his courage in facing life challenges. Despite the pain, Bernard came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

When first meeting Bernard he was introduced by name, but soon became "Papa" to many.

People were drawn to his enduring warmth and loveable personality. Bernard is survived by his wife Helen with whom he called his best friend for over 63 years. He was a proud Dad to two daughters; Diane (Miles) and the late Lorie Lynn. He was an amazing role model to his grandchildren; Justin (Jennifer) and Courtney. He was a big brother to; Louie and John.

Bernard is preceded in death by his parents Edmond and Alma King and by his sisters/brothers; Rena, Georgette, Alida, Raymond, Paul and Pat.

Bernard was a "salt of the earth" human being with a kind spirit and beautiful soul.

He loved his vegetable garden, being in the bush and almost anything to do with dirt and planting.

He was an avid hunter and when teamed up with his brothers, the King boys always returned home with all issued moose tags filled. He loved helping others and could always be counted on to be there in time of need.

Every man's life ends the same way. It is only in the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguishes one from another. Bernard was definitely an amazing man and one of a kind. His legacy will be proudly carried on through his family and all those lives he touched.

Special thanks go to; Dr. Donald and his office staff, Bayshore Homecare (Erin) and Care Partners (Brenda). They all ensured that Dad's health care was given with absolute compassion and also offered ongoing support to immediate family.

As per his request, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel, 290 First Street, Midland (705) 526-6551 and no service will take place.
