Remembering Frances Mary Allan

Surrounded by the love and care of her family, Frances Mary Allan (Pulchinski) has passed on to join her beloved husband Glenn, brother David Pulchinski, brothers-in-law Reg Manuel and Garry Allan, and so many others dear to her.

Loving mother to Wendy (Larry) Kirouac of Winnipeg, Heather (Brad) Melvin of Orillia, and Sharon Allan (Scott) of Orillia. Cherished grandmother “Nanny” to Aaron (Kristin), Taylor, Rachelle, and Mackenzie Kirouac; Tanis and Payton Melvin; Carter, Chanelle and Hayden Hassard. Also survived by her dear sister Bernice Manuel and sister-in-law Jeannie Allan.

Frances was born April 12, 1938 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the youngest of 3 children, to Joseph and Stella (Levinski) Pulchinski. She married Glenn Allan on June 27, 1959 in Kirkland Lake, and they had homes in North Bay, Markham, Winnipeg, and finally in Stouffville, where Glenn passed in 2008.

Fran was an outstanding athlete for her entire life, and had a successful career as a figure skating coach in North Bay, Markham Skating Club, Unionville Skating Club, and the Winnipeg Winter Club and Charleswood Skating Club. When she retired from coaching figure skating, her curling went from recreational to competitive, and culminated as skip of the Ontario Women’s Masters championship team. She continued to play and coach curling for many years as a senior.

Fran was active and full of life; she loved walking and skating, and could be seen about town on her bike into her eighties. She loved to entertain, rarely missed an opportunity to dance, and always had a big smile on her face.

We take great comfort in knowing that she can play and dance with joy once again with those she loved who have been waiting for her. Fran will live on in the memories shared by all those she coached, golfed or curled with, her friends, neighbours, and relatives.

A memorial service will be held Monday September 12, 1pm at Carson Funeral Home, 54 Coldwater St. E Orillia (705) 326-3595.

PS Taking liberties as designated author of the obituary, I know mom would want to thank Heather and Brad and Sharon and their families for all of the care, support and happiness they gave her, especially over the past 2.5 years!

The family would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know they have received your condolences left online. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
