Remembering Joan Elizabeth Nelson (nee Appleton)

Peacefully at Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at the age of 88. Joan Nelson of Washago, Loving spouse to Harry for 66 years. Loving mother of David Nelson (Lida) and Cathy Nelson ( Ernie). Survived by her brothers John Appleton (Marylou) and Tom Appleton (Deana). Loved by her grandchildren Darren (Josee), Sarah and Leah (Vince) and by her great grandchildren Sadie and Cian. Special family friend Bryan Sargent (predeceased) (Louise) and their children David, Katie and Ben. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, other dear family members and many friends. Thank you to the staff at Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital especially at Soldier’s 1 and Harvie 2 for all of the loving care and compassion. Relatives and friends will be received at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Sunday October 20, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Heritage United Church, Washago on Monday October 21, 2019 at 1 pm. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment St. George’s Cemetery, Washago. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
