Remembering George Ross Willson

	June 12, 1931 – June 6, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of George Ross Willson announce his peaceful passing on June 6, 2026, at Spencer House in Orillia, just days before his 95th birthday.

George was predeceased by his beloved wife of many years, Lulla Willson (née Evans), who passed away on July 14, 2024. He was also predeceased by his daughter Glenna Sinclair, his siblings Doris, Dorothy, Alma, Audrey Ronald, and Lorna and many cherished family members and friends.

George leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory: his daughters Gail Willson, Barb Willson (Eric Olsen), and Ellen Renaud (Rick). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Stephanie (Brian), Erica (Derek), Melissa (Norm), Andrew, Jeff, Kalista, Riley, Kristy (Steve), and Kyle (Lindsey).

George was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Dalton, Ayla, Mikey, Sydney, Lorna, Nathan, Carter, Abby, Harper, Macey, and Kayla, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

George was a man who earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him. He dedicated over 40 years of service as an electrician and linesman, building a distinguished career that culminated in his retirement as Linesman Superintendent with Newmarket Hydro in 1990. His strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to his profession left a lasting impact on colleagues and the community he served.

Following retirement, George and Lulla enjoyed 34 wonderful years together, spending their winters in Florida. George often joked about his dislike for the "white stuff" that arrived every winter in Ontario and was happiest when enjoying the sunshine and warmth of the south.

Above all else, family was at the center of George's life. He was deeply devoted to providing the best life possible for his children and grandchildren. Whether through his guidance, generosity, steady support, or quiet strength, he demonstrated his love every day. His family will remember him as a caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved.

George was also a Christian whose faith guided him throughout his life. He lived with kindness, humility, compassion, and gratitude, and found great comfort in his spirituality.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Spencer House for the compassionate care and support they provided to George during his final years.

Though he will be deeply missed, George's legacy of love, faith, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Life will be held on Monday June 22, 2026 from 1-4 P.M. with sharing of memories at 2:30 P.M. at the L. Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595. Interment to take place at a later date.

Remembering Donald Charles Baker

We remember Donald Baker 1946 to 2026

With sadness, we announce the passing of Donald Baker on May 25, 2026. Don will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, Sylvia, his daughter Terri, son in law Greg, and grandchildren; Abigail, Gavin and Julia.

Donald was born in Lachine, Quebec in 1946 to Mary and George Baker. Don was very active as a young person with playing hockey and many other sports as well as delivering the local newspaper. Don studied Commerce at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia) in Montreal, graduating in 1968. In 1969 he married the love of his life, Sylvia, after having met while working together as lifeguards in Lachine and dating during their years in university. Don’s work transferred him and Sylvia to Toronto two years after being married, where he continued to play and coach hockey in his new hometown. They later welcomed their daughter Terri to the family while living in Toronto. The family enjoyed sailing, camping trips and ski weekends together. Don worked for many years in Corporate Finance, before beginning a financial planning business later in his career, with the goal of helping families and individuals better understand, grow and manage their financial equity. During his working years and into retirement when he moved to the Oro-Medonte area, Don enjoyed golfing, skiing, woodworking and building model railways. Don was proud to be able to “golf his age” and once scored a hole in one at the Horseshoe Highlands golf course. Don (along with Sylvia) always welcomed his grandkids to stay at their place on weekends, especially in the winter as he encouraged the kids to enjoy alpine skiing as well.

Don’s family is sincerely thankful for the kind messages, cards and condolences received since his passing. A private memorial with close family will take place in Don’s memory. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice are welcome.

Predeceased by his mother, Gloria Wells, and father, Bruce Wells, his brother-in-law, Tom Mitchell, and niece, Melinda Elkaim.

Bill was a very proud father and an even more proud grandfather. It was his greatest joy to spend his later years with his grandsons. He spent his entire adult life driving; from taxi to limo to truck. He was known for kindness, patience, brutal honesty and love of the outdoors. He enjoyed storytelling, hunting, giving life lessons, poker or any strategy game, especially with family and just “shooting the shit” with a cup of Tims. He loved a good meal paired with a glass of chilled red wine and a table surrounded by loved ones. He will be remembered most by his contagious laughter, his love for family and he will be deeply missed.

“He won’t be remembered by the hands he won, but for the kindness he shared around the table.”

Please join us to celebrate the wonderful life of Bill Wells. Let’s get together, share stories, and honour his amazing journey.
