Remembering Cleophas Joseph Despres 'Cleo'

It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of Cleophas (Cleo) J. Despres on Friday June 27, 2014 at Sunnybrook hospital of a tragic accident. Born in Rogersville N.B. July 1948, Cleo lived in Toronto for 43 years and 5 years in Orillia. He is survived by his wife Ruth of 46 1/2 years, his son John (Sheila), daughter Angela (Glenn ). Nampy to his 3 grand-daughters Ashley, Katelyn and Emily, step grandchildren Michelle and Brian, 2 great grandchildren Autumn and Brady and all the neighborhood children who all called him their Nampy as well. He loved all these children and they all loved him. Brothers - Romeo (Linda), Jean Guy, Ivan (Thora), Ronald (Darlene), Sisters - Maria (Bob), Yvonne (John), Sister in laws - Kathy, Judy. Brother in law to Bob O'Donnell (Donna), Sister In Law Diane Moore and Jack Rynes, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Lionel and Zita (Caissie), sisters Rita, Celina, brothers Rogers, Oveila, Fernand and Louis Despres. Cleo started window cleaning in 1966 and started his own business in 1973 until he retired in 2009, but continued to service his many residential customers. Cleo avidly enjoying playing poker with his good friends Al and Lynne Thomas. He was everyone’s biggest fan and supporter attending every sport game possible. Cleo was always quick with a joke and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be sorely missed by all. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595) on Tuesday July 1, 2014 from 7-9 P.M. Then to St. Columbkille’s Roman Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2014 at 10 o’clock. Cremation to follow. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
