Peacefully at Champlain Manor on Tuesday June 24, 2014 in his 97th year. Des Messenger of Orillia, beloved husband of the late Olive Messenger. Survived by his sister-in-law Gladys Cheston of Montreal. Dear uncle to Chris Cheston (Linda) and Paul Cheston (Janice). Des will be sadly missed by his dear friend Jean Kemp and her children Christine (Duane), the late Robert (Bob) & his surviving wife Marcie and by his close friends Wendy & Patrick Slattery, Tony & Betty Bridgens, Len & Karen Robert. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate Des’s life will be held at St. James’ Anglican Church, corner of Coldwater & Peter Streets, Orillia, on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at 3 o’clock with visitation from 2-3 P.M. If desired, memorial donations to St. James’ Anglican Church or the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Members of the Equity Masonic Lodge #659 A.F. & A.M. are asked to gather at St. James’ Church on Wednesday for service at 2:30 P.M.
