Passed away with family by his side at Hillcrest Village on Saturday April 1, 2017 at the age of 84. Loving father of Brian, Richard (Debora), Dwayne (Pam), Bob, Derek (Janice) and Joy Story. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Joshua, Tyler, Vincent, Amber, Chad, Clifford, Christopher, Charlie, Kelton, Jacob, Nicholas and Spencer. Dear great grandfather of seven. Richard is predeceased by the mother of his children Shirley Story and brothers Fred, Reg, and Clifford. He will be fondly remembered by Marie Godfrey.
Dick was a man who loved many things: a good joke, the town of Midland, a hot card game, a big meal and a healthy shot of rye. He loved hockey and passed this love on to his sons. Dick was involved in Midland Minor Hockey for many years and later in life the Midland Civitan Club. He took great pride in the good work the Civitan’s accomplished in the community. And in the end we are left with Dick’s favourite, final words “keep your powder dry and your stick on the ice.” He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel, 290 First Street, Midland (705) 526-6551. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 29 from 1- 4pm at the Midland Legion. Memorial donations to The Midland Civitan’s would be appreciated by Dick and the family if desired.
