Remembering Benjamin Hollis Manuge 'Ben'

Passed away at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Thursday February 2, 2017 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Janower). Loving father of Frederick (Marlene), Ronald (Mary), Thomas (Vickie Lynn), Benjamin (Beverley), Susanne (Mel) and Gordon (James). Gradfather of Adam, Anthony, Lewis, Joseph, Matthew, Joshua, Christina, Laurie, Terrance (predeceased), Patrick, Nicole, Jordyn, Tyler and Lyndzie, along with 8 great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Ada, along with brothers Maxum, John, Eldon and Darrah. Ben was the proprietor of Ben Manuge Shell Service Station of Westmount Drive in Orillia for over 30 years. An avid Race Car enthusiast, enjoyed camping with his sons at the Haliburton Forest and a good game of cards. Ben spent the last few years of his life at the Stephen Leacock Nursing Home due to the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease. The family wish to thank all the dedicated Health Care support staff at the Stephen Leacock home for their genuine compassion and care over the last few years. Dad really felt that this was his home. Thank you also to the Nursing Staff and Doctors at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital for their professional care and comfort provided to Dad in his last days. In keeping with Ben’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. A small family ceremony will be held at a later date along with spring interment at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Toronto. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation.
