Remembering Francis Leo Joseph McMillan 'Frank'

Frank, 63, of Orillia ON, beloved husband and best friend of Anna (Carpino) for over 40 years, devoted father of Melissa (Jeff) French, Joanna, Jonathan (Moniek Steenman), Christopher (Samantha Cubitt), caring brother of Richard (Anne Louise) McMillan, godfather to niece Maggie McMillan and doting grandpa Cooch of Hayley and James French, tragically passed away July 25th while cycling, a sport he dearly loved.

He was a son of Mary and Frank McMillan (predeceased), and was a much-loved son-in-law of Maria (Joe – predeceased) Carpino. Frank had a very special relationship with his sisters-in-law Rose Cipolla (predeceased), Fran Carpino (Larry Bittner – predeceased), Gina Rayfield (Peter – predeceased), Shawna (Jim) Frolick, and many special cousins. He is also survived by brother-in-law Frank Cipolla and was a kind and generous uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.   

Frank was born in Orillia. He spent many of his formative years helping his parents run the family business, The Beaverton Hotel.  During this time, he also discovered his life-long passion with sports – a legacy that he has passed on to his family and many friends.   He attended York University and then embarked on a long and storied career in business, making longtime friends in the process.

Frank was a very spiritual, kind, and generous son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was always willing to open his home, his arms, and his heart to everyone. Old and new friends, and those he just met, enjoyed barbecued feasts at his table and were entertained by his engaging tales. We will all miss you Cooch! 
 
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595  on Friday, July 29th from 4 – 8 p.m.  Parish prayers will take place prior to the visitation at 3:45 p.m..  Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Columbkille Church, Uptergrove (4993 Highway 12 at Muley Pt. Rd.)  Saturday July 30th at 1:00 pm followed by interment at Black River Cemetery.  If desired, donations to Share the Road Cycling Coalition, St. Vincent DePaul Society or charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
