Remembering Susan Marie Smith

August 18, 1948 - July 8, 2016

Passed away at her home in Brechin, Ontario at the age of 67 years. Beloved wife of Gordon, who survives her. Much loved mother of Matthew (Andrea) and step-mother of Larry (Virginia) and Stephen. Loving grandmother of Raj, Dhillon, Dylan and Aimee. Cherished sister of Ian (Susan) and Gregg (Liz), and sister-in-law to Wayne and Roy and their families. Aunt to Devon and Fiona, and to Flora (Noah), Lucy and Simon. Sue was born in Sault Ste. Marie and grew up in Clarkson where she attended Lorne Park Secondary School. She studied at McMaster University, Lakeshore Teachers’ College, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto and York University. Sue was a teacher and a principal in Midland, Ontario and surrounding areas. She was a board member of the King’s Wharf Theatre, and sang with the Serenata Choir, in Huronia. Sue also volunteered with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Simcoe County. Suzie skied, golfed, boated, cottaged and travelled with Gord and her family. She was liked and admired by all who met her. A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at The Hayloft in Bayshore Village in Brechin, Ontario, with a reception for friends and family to follow at her home at 15 Sandlewood Trail in Bayshore Village from 4:00-6:00 p.m (smart casual attire).
