Remembering George Arthur Kelk

Peacefully, on June 6, 2016, in his 93rd year, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine “Kay” (Conley) and brothers Arnold, Alfred, and Ken, George is survived by his sister Ruth. Loving father of Doug (Andrea), Gary and Bruce (Gerry); loving grandfather of Derek (Karen), Matthew (Ashleigh), Grant (Alexis), and Laura (Scottie), Tara (Andrew) Dylan and Teagan; and great-grandfather to Peyton, Jared, Jaidyn, Abigail, Lily and Jack.  George was born in Windsor and served with 48th Highlanders in WWII. Injured in battle in Italy, he returned to Canada and settled in Port Credit, Ontario, where he was active in the community, managing a Port Credit hockey team for many years.  George built a cottage on Heron Island in Lake Couchiching and spent 60 summers there with family and friends. The “mayor” of Heron Island, George was a friend to many.  The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Friday June 10, 2016 from 12 pm until time of memorial service in the chapel at 1 o’clock.  If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
