Remembering Louise June Payne

Born in Toronto on June 4. Died peacefully at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Louise enjoyed many years living in her own home, enjoying the pool during the summer and vacationing in Fort Lauderdale for many winters. She was the only daughter of Arthur and Annie (Steele) Harp of Orillia. Louise lived most of her life in Orillia. She was predeceased by her brothers: Arthur Steele, Frederick Steele, Gordon Steele and Angus Steele. Louise married her late husband Clare (1998) in 1951. They were partners, buddies and the love of each other's life. To many of us, she was known as "Angel", "Ethel", "Aunt Weezie", and "Ma". She is survived by her daughters : Jennifer(Bill Littlefair) and Julie (Jack Valiquette), grandchildren Jessica Clare Littlefair and Aaron Patrick Littlefair. Ma will be fondly remembered by Jason and Natasha Valiquette and David and Haley Valiquette . She was thrilled to meet and enjoy the newest family member Bennett Valiquette. Louise's family circle included her Payne in-laws: Doris Faux, Fern Gilchrist, Betty and Bill Thomson, and John Smith. Aunt Louise was the caring and interested aunt to her 15 Harp and Payne nieces and nephews and their families. Louise had worked at the Royal Bank in Orillia for many years. She was a long time member of St. James Anglican Church of Orillia and was associated with the Royal Canadian Legion, the Couchiching Golf and Country Club, and the Orillia Curling Club. A graveside service will be held at St. Andrews St. James Cemetery on Thursday, May 12th at 1 PM. Everyone is invited to gather at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34 in Orillia, Vimy Lounge from 2 to 4 PM to join family members and celebrate Louise's life.
