Remembering Gordon Beardwood

March 3, 1915—July 7, 2015

It is with great relief and a profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Beardwood in his 101st year. He survived the passing of his 1st wife Christian (1985) and his 2nd wife Irene (2004) to live a long productive life. He will be missed by his daughter Helen McHugh and her daughter Kelly. He had many nieces and nephews that will miss him and they are Bert and his wife Liz, Billy, Nancy, Hazel, William, Carol, Marg, Joan, Linda, Betty, Patty, Susan, Gary, Colleen, Wayne, Bobby, Cathy, Gail, Judy, Debra, Gordon, Sharon, Lorraine, Terry, Joyce, Barb, Barry, Marylin. Dad was the last one left of nine and they were Florence, Stan, John, Isabel, Tom, Marg, Ilene and Bill. Gord was the President of the Army and Navy Club in Toronto for many years and a 45 year member of the Legion. Dad was sent to England during the 2nd world war as Flight Sargent on the Lancaster bombers in 1942 and returned home in 1945. Gordon was a mechanic by trade and owned a Supertest gas station and garage in Toronto for many years. When he came north he ran an Esso station and restaurant (Three Gables) in Oro-Medonte. When he came into Orillia he ran a gas station and car wash for Rudy Meeks on Colbourne St. Changing careers he worked at Boyles in Orillia and then to Spar Areo Space in Toronto before retiring for good. He volunteered at the food bank for many years, a job which he enjoyed a great deal. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at the Masonic Temple, 24 James St. E., Orillia on Saturday July 25, 2015 at 1 o’clock.
