Remembering Darell Trombly 'Bert'

Passed away at home on December 4, 2014, after a lengthy illness.  Bert was the loving husband of Helen (Sproule), father of Melinda Williams (Bill), Joe Trombly (Betty), Debbie Knox (Terry), and Remi Trombly (Janet Reynolds).  Bert was the loving and proud grandpa of 12 grandchildren.  He was the great grandfather (Sheriff) to 7 great grandchildren.  Bert will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and by his many in-laws.  Bert was born in Quebec on November 22, 1931 to Bertie and Alberta (Stokes) Trombly both deceased.  Bert’s infant brother predeceased Bert’s birth. Bert came to Ontario at age 14 to work on tobacco farms located throughout Delhi and Alliston.  He also worked at Base Borden.  In 1959, he realised his dream of becoming an entrepreneur.  With great support of his wife Helen and his 4 children, he made Trombly’s Supertest in Uptergrove a busy, successful business.  Bert became well known in the area and community as “Mr. Supertest” and the “Mayor of Uptergrove”.  He was always helpful to families in need and the business was a gathering place for all.  After his retirement, Bert decided to mentor his two sons in their business ventures.  He spent his days hanging around helping them and parlaying his social nature.  This allowed him to keep his ties to the community which he enjoyed very much.  Thank you to Dr. Erika Catford “Our Saint”, her staff, Soldiers II, Bayshore Nursing Staff (Marlene) and to Red Cross Care Partners.  Bert and his family were blessed to be surrounded by such professional, lovely people.  Thank you to all Bert’s family members who were a constant support.  Special thanks to good friend and neighbour Donna Naughton for all her care.  The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes on Sunday December 7, 2014 from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m.  Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday December 8, 2014 at 11 a.m.  If desired memorial donations may be made to the Orillia Residential Hospice or to the charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
Rest in peace Bert your work is done.
